The Rocker Who Betrays Me The Rocker Series Volume 11 Terri Anne Browning 9781517493608 Books
I have to write this review with mixed emotions as Zander and AnnaBelle are technically the last of the "Rocker Who" couples. This series has covered nine couples that are a part of the actual bands of Demon's Wings and Other World plus a few other couples mixed in that are series regulars (like Linc) that we know and love. This series has been one of my favorite rocker romances and always a go to recommendation for anyone that likes the genre. I have read and re-read this series I don't know how many times so even though there is technically one more book in the series, I am so sad one of my favorite series is "done for now".We met AnnaBelle in the previous book when Bre was injured and learned that she grew up with the members of Other World in Tennessee. Anna also manages bands but seems to be a more politically correct version of Emmie yet she still is as tough with her clients and takes no crap from anyone. Anna had to grow up in less than ideal circumstances which forced her to adapt to her surroundings and at times make use of a steely backbone. At seventeen years old her entire world changed when the man/boy she loved left her and never looked back, so how can anyone expect her to be civil to him when she is forced to be in the same room as Zander Brockman again.
Zander is the so called "last man standing" in the band that hasn't fallen for a woman. He thinks it's comical how all the guys have fallen one after another while he has sat back and watched the show. Zander realized rather quickly the only reason he isn't one of the fallen is because he left his heart in Tennessee seventeen years ago with the girl he loved. By no means has he been a monk over the years but he is definitely the least likely to wake up with a stranger. Now that he has seen Anna again it is like his heart has started beating just for her and he will stop at nothing to get her back. Circumstances exist that may stand in his way but Zander is determined to keep his promise that he made all those years ago.
While this book is a bit different from the other Rocker books with about a third of the book being told in the past it did not deter from the story at all. You got a feel for the characters and their families as well as watching their love story unfold. I can't wait for the final book in the series to see the author tie up all the loose ends with the adult rockers so we can move on to their kid's books next :)

***** SLIGHT SPOILERS *****
Holy W.O.W. This book was an emotional roller-coaster; filled with devastating secrets, a strong heroine, a Hero who you'll want to smack upside the head a few times & yes, some warm fuzzies. It was tough to read about the heartbreak but it ended up being a beautiful second chance romance.
Oh, Annabelle... I had a MAJOR case of the feels for this heroine. She experienced so many heart-wrenching moments throughout the past 17 years... and they were all without Zander, the love of her life. I want to cry right now while I'm skimming the book, looking for specific passages & remembering just how bad things got for her. I have to admit, I kinda wish she would've moved on from Zander for a little bit. At the very least, I wish she would've "experienced" life more before they reunited years later. She was such a strong, hard-working and sweet woman. LOVE that she got her happily ever after in the end.
Man, did I want to go all Tangled on Zander's a**! I was so disappointed in him. Leaving without a word, NEVER communicating with her in ANY way, shape or form during those 17 years. Really, Zander?! You couldn't send one text, one letter, one email, pick up the phone or even send a message that was relayed through another person? *sigh* His reasoning, the whole "I wasn't good enough for her" thing, was weak. He was young. They both were young. It would've been better if he had just told her that he needed to pursue this one-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. She knew he was talented & she would've been sad but I'd take that over total avoidance any day of the week.
I enjoyed seeing how determined Zander was to win Annabelle back in the second half of the book. I would've liked to have seen the pursuit last a little longer but it was hard to blame Annabelle for falling for him so quickly when they'd been apart for such a long time. Sometimes you just have to give in to the happiness & roll with the hugs & kisses.
I liked the career opportunity Emmie offered Annabelle & was thrilled when she accepted it. This can only help to strengthen Annabelle & Zander's relationship because time apart would not have worked for them whatsoever!
Sort of upset that we're still left hanging where the whole kidnapping plot line is concerned. Not even a tiny tidbit is thrown out about it in this book. I realize that there will be resolution coming soon for it, since there is only one book left in the series, but it can't come soon enough. Well, that... and more news on Shane & Harper's story. )
P.S. Where was Felicity/Flick?
P.P.S. ***WARNING*** This book ends at the 90% mark. Excerpts for other books, from different authors, follow the epilogue.
I am a huge fan of this series. While I have enjoyed each book there have been a few that will always stand out for me and this is one. Not much is known about Zander other than he seems to have OCD and is a jerkface. We were first introduced to Annabella in The Rocker Who Hates Me and it was clear that these two share some history. Well, not only do we get their story but we also get to travel back into time and see how OtherWorld got its start.
There were a few twists and surprises in this story that made it so much more than just another book in the Rocker series. There is hurt, pain, betrayals, regrets, and secrets. But somehow in the end there is a happy ending that is so deserved that I could not help but cry.
During this story, we are also introduced to another amazing character and I am so hoping that this person along with a few characters that we have met throughout this series are given their own books.
